tang are hervivore so any seaweed will be a tentation for them. and dont worry about if he doent eat flake, as he get older he will it about anything. try to dip your flake in garlic. maybe it will temp him to try it.

Start your hippo out on some brime shrimp and seaweed flakes. My hippo is a PIG he eats anything you put in the tank. If your hippo is small feed him small foods. you might want to check with your LFS on some blood worms and black worms to feed him as well.
Good Luck

You can try to feed brine, live brine, or mysis for a meaty source (soak or feed zoe for nutritional value or maybe supplement with garlic)
Greens are important for a tang and is a main staple in it's diet. Try some green frozen cubes (the ones with some garlic included) and see how that works.

My hippo like sliders as well. I dont think there is any thing I put into the tank he wont eat. He loves clams.

my tiny blue eats the smallest flakes you can hardly see, and actually stuffs himself on the algea off my rocks, picking at it all day. its really cool to watch. and before i get flamed for having a blue tang in a 50 gal, its only an inch big and im getting a 120 in the spring.
