im thinking of adding a blue hippo tang into my tank. i have a bicolored psudocrhomis, and a flame angel already. the only hippo tangs i can get from my lfs are very small ones so i was wondeing how they would do with my other fish.
My flame angel is not aggressive at all however i believe my psudo had killed my butterflyfish. do you think a baby hippo tang would do well in my tank ?

How big is your tank? Blue hippos get big! Bout 13-16inches. Also they are very prone to ich. So if you have a fish you feel is aggressive the stress could even make the ich possibility worse. That said. If you have a qt. You could get the little fella. Get sum size on him then add him to your tank.

These very small hippo tangs have become very common in the trade, despite the fact that silver dollar-sized hippos have a very poor survival rate in home aquaria. If you have the room (125 gallons, at least) wait for a somewhat larger specimen to become available.

One of the biggest issues with very small hippos is they need meat in their diets, unlike many other tangs. I'm a firm believer of staying away from smaller hippos, BUT if you're determined to get one small, you should start them out in a small tank and offer both meaty and veggy foods.

i have a 55 gal
and a 30 gal
my 55 just looks so bare...

I personally like Midas blennies they add a nice splash of colour , or a nice pair of clownfish.. Maybe a small mcoskers wrasse ..
if the hippo tangs smaller than an inch you can probably have him for 8 months max ( unless you have a big tank)

You might have some trouble adding anything new with that psuedochromis. They are small, but can really be aggressive, especially to newcomers. I'd focus on catching that, then you'd have more options for fish to add.
