Blue hippo tang in a 46-gal?

Is it okay to keep a blue hippo in a 46-gal bowfront with minimal other fish? this site says the minimum size tank is 40 gallons but it seems like everywhere else says 70 gallons. I understand that in the wild these fish can reach 12"? Would it be possible to get this fish as a juvenile and then sell it as it outgrows my tank? If so, how fast will it grow?

I think the site is refering to the juvenile size. They get big in a aquarium and they can grow really fast. If it was me I wouldn't do it even if it was a baby but it is up to you.

I would ONLY if I had a place for it to go ahead of time once it outgrew the tank... but then you have to worry about catching it again in the midst of your liverock/decorations which isn't easy either.

I was thinking of getting one too when my 55 is established. U said not to keep with other fish?? Are u referring to other tangs? or other fish in general? From what I understand they do good in groups but if I'm wrong please tell me.

I have a 5 inch blue hippo in my 150 and could not imagine it being in anything smaller. They are an awesome fish but they require larger tanks. But if you have to have one, they are a great excuse to buy a new large tank!! Also as stated earlier, catching a fish(other than a puffer) in a DT is major pain.

No!

See this is why I thought I would check. It didn't seem like it was going to work but now I know. I'll pass on this fish.
