They get really big and they are susceptible to ick so be careful with tank size and quarantine methods.

I would say a yellow tang is slightly hardier than a blue hippo. Also give it a varied diet so it doesn't develop lateral line and fin erosion.

Like Nori, flake, brine shrimp. also how would you get it so get or the food clip or introduce it to the nori. Do you put like little peaces in the rocks to it finds it when its grazing

I would look also at vitamin enriched brine shrimp and a good quality of seaweed strips. You can add garlic and selcon to the seaweed. How big of a tank are you planning on putting it in?

I'd be aliitle worried about the yellow taking charge once you put the hippo in.A 75 is not very roomy even for one tang, but 2 is going to be cramped.Your yellow already owns that 75,and he's not going to want to share.....good luck

I know they like a variety of foods flake, nori, brin shrimp but are big time algae grazers. I have caves in my rockwork, with alot of room to swim and graze. I also know that they can grow quite large. Most tangs also dont like to be around other fish that will bully or pick on them.

I have had my tank setup for over 2 years now with miner problems that have been worked out over time. My tank is doing better now than ever before, my zoos and mushrooms and bubble tip are doing great. All my fish in the tank now are doing good. I had a yellow tang for quite some time till i wanted some new equipment so i traded it. I just didnt kno if there was much a difference between the yellow and the blue hippo.

if u r going to get one, get one of at least in the 2-3 inch range, since smaller ones tend to be very fragile. small hippos need to be fed 2-3x daily.

For long term success in SW fishkeeping; everything should be QTd, regardless of how susceptible to ich they are reported to be. Ich is just one of countless problems that can be caught in QT.

but what is the ick from stress due to a new tanks or other fish, i have no fish that would cause problems to it. my temp and all my doseing are under control. so it would only be stressed out at firts being put into a new tank.

If ich is not in your tank, your hippo will not get it.Fish don't just break out in an ich attack. They have to be subjected to it somehow.Still,QT everything
