Hello everyone, would a 2-3 inch Kole Tang be okay to put in with a 1-2 inch Hippo?? Plenty of rockwork and room I dont see why not but i figured I'd get some opinions 1st.

29 Gal, for now I'm going to be upgrading to a 125+ in a year or two, and in the mean time maybe something like a 55 gal to hold me over.

Ok, why? Tangs need ALOT of swimming room. Two species of tangs can be kept in larger tanks, they tend to fight alot.

Nope 75+ gallons for that and there not invert safe. Tangs should be kept in 75+ gallon tanks if you already have one take it back and get something els until you upgrade. Now in a 125 or 150 gallon tank you could have like a blue hippo and a yellow or something but they would have to look diffrent or they will fight.

When buying fish always try and buy fish with different dispositions, shapes, and colors. For example. Blue and yellow tail damsels swim through the rock work and can be paired with green chromis whom swim at the top of the tank whom can be put with a goby who stays at the bottom of the tank all of whom look very different from eachother..... Just a long example.
I'd suggest not buying a fish unless you have the tank for it already. Never assume you will upgrade till you actually do. Most people do this and a rare few follow through and get stuck dealing with large fish.
I would look for a small, fish handbook by michael scott called marine fishes which details most any fish you'll find in the stores. Follow his guidelines and you won't have problems.
