I have had a blue hippo for about 1month now. I have noticed a few tiny white bumps that would come and go. Today it is really covered. This is a huge change in only a day! I am a beginner salt tanker! I do not have a QT tank. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have a 75 gallon DAS tank. Thanks

I am completely computer and dig. cam handicapped. To get a pic and actually load it onto the computer would take me several years! I have read some of the forums, and it does sound like ick, which feels devastating to me. I have always had fresh water tanks, and when they develop disease, it almost always wipes them out. I don't hold alot of faith in the meds you get from LPS's. Maybe salt is different. Sorry about the pic thing.

Also divert this question to the DISEASE forum prople can help you there as well! Good Luck! Hippos get Ick like Whimpy likes eating cheeseburgers, which is all the time!

good to know. I wish I had known that sooner! I was just on the disease forum reading about treatments. Feels pretty dismal. I just bought a 20 gallon salt set up from a co worker that decided to stop. I guess I will have to do an emergency set up as a QT tank. I was hoping to make that a reef/coral tank. How do you know if the ick has gone to the stage of being attached all over the inside of your tank. Haven't seen any other fish in the tank with symptoms. I have lots of inverts and live rock and mushrooms in my tank. I cant do the salinity thing to them.

Do you have any cleaner shrimp? It's probably too late for your hippo but cleaner shrimp will keep your other fish healthy. The fish will let the shrimp clean them.
From saltwaterfish.com: In the home aquarium, these shrimp not only are a blast to watch, but will also provide cleaning services for their fellow aquarium inhabitants. This can be very helpful in preventing diseases like Ick. The Cleaner Shrimp will also clean your hand when you place it into the aquarium. They are always hungry and love to be fed. They are very peaceful and more than one can be kept in a tank.
