I have about 100 BlueLeg and 100 snails in my tank..
today i saw 5 blue leg jumped on super large snail
and ate him.. do you think snail was dead before they eat him?
or they killed him? I thought blue leg is peaceful and wont eat
snails. thats what every online store said

Some on this board have reported seeing their blue leg hermits kill snails but, I have never seen my blue leg hermits do this. They will eat one that has died though.
The only aggression I've seen out of them are an occasional wrestling match between each other. Interesting to watch :)

I have seen my blue legs kill and each other, snails, scarlet hermits, and a conch. When they wrestle with each other, it can be nasty...just a few days ago I saw one get his claw ripped off and make a speedy retreat. I still like blue legs, but I will not add any more. I have fifty of them, at least I did at one time, and bought 50+ extra shells. This did not keep their aggression in check. They are helpful with algae and as a clean-up crew, but I will only add scarlets in the future. HTH

I agree with Ekclark... My Blue legs are nasty as hell and I have seen them pull the scarlets right out of their shells. I have many extra shells but it didn't seem to help.

Blue legs will sometimes hijack snails. You can put extra shells in there, but overall, i think its a roll of the die.

So far none of my blue legs have killed each other at least not that I know if. They did however kill all but 4 of my 20 snails.
