Blue Leg Hermits

I have this little blue leg hermit perched on top of my pink stylophora sps coral. Will he hurt it by eating it? Or is he just eating algae off it? Thanks

Probably just eating algae off of it. Hermits don't eat coral, unless it's dead soft coral flesh, though I doubt it would go after dead SPS, since they retreat into the skeletons when they die.

I would get it off, blue hermits do chew on it. Not only do they eat algae but any dead flesh. So do remove it or eventually it will start to mess with your coral, trust me I've had to do this serveral times to one of my stubborn hermits.

Well, I have moved him several times, but he keeps on going back to the same spot. I even moved him to the other end of the tank.

What I had to do to mine was put him in the sump fo a few days. They will eat the deitrus under there so don't worry about its health. They will always be on that spot until your coral gets irritated.

Take him back to the fish store and I'm sure they will give you a different one... Seems kind of funny driving back to the store over a 2.00 crab though.....
