Blue Sand

The seagrass will be in my JBJ 12g nano, I was first interested in this setup when I read April/May 2005 Coral magazine. I am looking more to venture into keeping seagrass & macroalgae, I would like to keep Euplica versicolor snails, I am still undecided which substrate.
Right now I have Red - Porphyra Leucosticta, red - Halymenia floresii (at least thats what I think it is), a saucer type of algae possibly red- Lobophora Variegata, and Green Caulerpa possibly prolifera.
This is my Red - Porphyra Leucosticta

In case you missed it reefkeeping has a seagrass article this month http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-04/sl/index.php
CELACANTHr - though I would not put a regular tire in my tank & have looked into the ones at Pet shops <you know the dog chew toys.....lol But I am undecided on the tire still, I would much rather have a rusty looking anchor with a chain attached.... that one has been tough to figure out & I may have to have it specially made.
Most of it is coming together and I will post pic's once it is complete, it has taken about 14 months to get my tank to a point that I am going to love my tank, I am just bored of the FOWLR only tank.

"I've had blue sand in my setup for 2 years. Everyone seems to be healthy. My water parameters stay good. If its a health risk I'll take it out... otherwise I'm okay with being tacky."
I think it will cause a health risk to take it out. If you stir up the sand, you will release unwanted bacteria into the tank water. :scared:

Yes, I did see the article, and it was absolutely wonderful! Sarah does has a really awesome seagrass tank, and has answered every seagrass question I have had baout my 20g long experimental tank.
IMO I owuld go with the tire. An anchor seems out of place to me at a dock. JMO

It's not really the bacteria that you need to worry about, it is certain nitrogenous compounds, and heavy metals that you would wanna worry about. Even then you would only have to worry about them in a DSB.
