Blue Spot Ray requirements

I have an empty 125gal (6') sitting around and I was wondering if that was big enough for a pair of Blue Spotted Rays? They don't grow as big as the others, right? No other fish, just the 2 rays.
Also what are some of the special requirements? I know they need fine sand, lots of surface so not as much LR, varied diet, anything I am missing? Do they need the same temperature, pH, etc as regular marine fish?
Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't do it....I have a cortez Ray in a 225G, and I am worried she is getting too big.....I thought the Cortez were the smaller rays...
..but it seems that even the small ones can get 10-12" around

I was just going by the recommended tank size online. But if it's too small, I won't do it. Just thinking of different options for this 125g I have sitting around taking up space. I don't want a reef tank that big and I already have a FOWLR, I was thinking to do something special with it. But I might just sell it on Craigslist.

YEAH...Ya gotta love those "recommended" tank sizes.....
I'm not even 100% sure that a 225G is big enough anymore.....:(

You've got the conditions down; for the most part, they need the same conditions as fish. You could keep "one" small blue spot in a 125 for a little while (they do get somewhat large and mine grew fairly fast). I've got two in a 96x36x30 right now and I'll probably have to upgrade. They're also very hard to keep. You have to be really committed to getting them to feed. If you do decide to keep one (although I wouldn't recommend it) let me know if you need any tips.

This is a quote from "The 101 Best Saltwater Fishes" by Scott W. Michael regarding the bluespotted RIBBON TAIL ray.
This quote is from the section of 33 species to avoid.
"Famously beguiling, this beautiful ray can be difficult to feed and will typically perish for unkown reasons. Its track record in home aquariums is dismal, it requires lots of living space (upward of 500 gallons)" pg. 154
I know you arent talking about the ribbon tail, but i just figured i would throw that piece of info out there.

Thanks for the responses, but I don't think I want to go through setting up an entire 125g tank if I can't keep it long term. I'll just pass on the rays for now... maybe in the future if/when I get a huge tank. They're beautiful creatures for sure.
