Blue Spotted Jaw Fish

My LFS store has a few Blue spotted jaw fishes in, they are a little pricey but really cool. I am thinking of getting one on saturday so I can watch him over the weekend and make sure he settles in before I have to go to work on monday. Does anyone have one or know anything I should know about them. I have read up on him and have not found anything I need to do special for it except have at least a 3 1/2" DSB.

JW, My DSB in the front is 5" in the front and 3" in the back. My fish keep it that way, I fix it and the maroon clowns move it back. :D I guess that is the way they want their home. I have a bunch of rubble and shells along with 150lb of live rock. I think it would happy in my tank, I am a little concerned with the jumping out of the tank. Once they get seddled in the tank do they still jump?
The price for him is 80. I think that is a good price considering they are rare. He is so pretty and I have really enjoyed watching them at the LFS.

Since we're on the subject of substrate.
I'm thinking of picking up a gobie/shrimp combo. They also live in burrows. Is coarse gravel better than fine sand??.
Since all I have is fine sand...is it possible to build them a burrow? I've seen pvc tubing mentioned in this regard in a book. Just wondering if anyone's tried it.

fine sand is the best type of stuff. you also need to have some smaller rocks or weird shapes and sizes laying around.

JW, I think I am going to go down and put a hold on him until next friday. I was informed by mu hubby a little while ago that we are going to go out to the house boat and stay the weekend. :) I do not want to get him until I can spend at least 2 days watching him. This is the first time my LFS has ever had them in. :D
Baron, I have a female maroon clown and male gold stripe clown that are too busy with their eggs to even look at anything else. They will not stop laying eggs. Every 2 weeks to the day, at 8:00. 4 1/2" Dragon Wrass, blue devil damsel, 7 green chromis, Juv. Emp Angel, Flame Hawk fish, Big Decarotor crab, 50 asst. hermit crabs (scarlate and blue leg) Snails. I think that is everybody. The dragon wrass is my only concern, if I turn the lights out or but my hand in the tank he will go to bed and not get back up until the next day. He gets up at the sametime everyday, and goes to bed the same time everynite. :D
Thank you everyone for your thoughts <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" />

Shel, that $80 bucks is a bit expensive. I just saw it for $45 at anchofish. Check it out, they have nice pic as well. ;)

Baron, the decorator crab has never messed with any of my fish. He just does his own thing. I am a little concerned about him messing up the jaws home. I will not bring home the jaw fish until next friday, if I still decide to do it. I am going to think a little more about this. Thank you everyone for your concerns and input, I really appreciate it.
Sammy do you have any pics of the den you built for the jaws? Also what is your thought about the decorator crab with the Jaws?
I also have 7 emeral crabs

I don't want to start a brand-new thread (within a thread)...but I'm a little curious about Dragon Wrasses.
Obviously there are quite a few people on this board who have them. I've always been interested in getting one, but every resource I've read says they require "expert care". The various on-line suppliers don't gurantee they're arrival (alive), etc.
Just wondering why. Do they not ship well? Are they difficult to feed???

Bluto, I don't know how well thet ship, but I have had no problems with mine and I have had him close to 2 years. He does rearrange small rocks and shells, he likes to decorate his area where he sleeps in the sand. I bought him with out doing any research, an impulse thing because I thought he was cool looking. I do not regret getting him, he keeps to him self. He loves to hunt for ghost shrimp. He eats any kind of food I put in. Grows fast. Hope this helps?
