blue starfish and lighting

Do blue starfish like high wattage lights? I have 2 96 watt bulbs in my 46 gallon tank. The blue star that I got 2 weeks ago does not come out. I've seen him twice since i got him from swf.com...once when i put him in the tank after acclimation and once when i turned over the rock he crawled behind once i put him in. He was fine when I saw him last..which was about a week ago. Do they not like lights? Or is my starfish just shy? Also, I have no idea what he is eating...i put a frozen food peice that i feed to the anemones next to him and he didn't care about it...a hermit came by 5 minutes later and ate it instead of the star...any comments or questions?

Mine dissapeared and died....be careful, mine caused a terrible amonia spike and killed a shrimp and couple of snails before I realized it. I'd keep an eye on anomia levels and not worry if they don't come up! ;)

I have a green serpent star who usually stations himself in a conch shell when I have the lights on and cruises the tank at night. Occasionally I do see him out for a stroll when the lights are on, but it is rare. To feed him, I use tongs to hold a piece of frozen food near him and he comes right out and takes it. He also likes the tetra tabs which I drop into the tank near "his" shell.

I have a white sand sifting starfish and hides under the sand during the day, but as soon as the lights go out it starts cruising the tank.

I got mine about a month and a half ago. I placed him in the tank for all to see only for him to hide behind a rock within a few hours. He stayed there for about 3 1/2 weeks even when the lights went out. Now when the lights go out he is all over the place. He is even starting to move a little when the lights are on. Maybe he just needs to get used to his environment.
