Hi. I see on live fish that a blue star eats algae and detritis. Im ashamed to admit I dont know what this is. Leftover flake?
Do I actually need to feed this dude, or will he eat off of the live rock and cc debris?

detritis is organic waste in tank from tank inhabitants;it probably will scavenge as well for left over food

Please tell me more about the calcium deposits...
Why do I need to add calcium, how much in a 75 gallon tank for 1 blue star?

Your calcium should be kept betwwen 400 and 450 ppm.
You should get a test kit for calcium.
Then you can add what you need to achieve
the right level.
the bottle of calcium should tell you how much
a specific ammount will increase your ppm of calcium
