Blue Stripe Maroon?

Has anyone ever seen a blue stripe maroon? I just picked one up today, its not "actinic on white stripes" blue, the LFS doesnt use anything but NO white tubes so to not give false impression. I'll admit the stripes are blue-er in my tank under 14K MH, but even in the sun the stripes have a blue hue to them. The fish is maybe 2-1/2 inches long and is a really pretty red and the blue just makes it.. Of course my wife named the fish "nemo" even tho its only nemo's distant cousin.
Also, can someone tell me if a 6-Line wrasse will be okay and hold its own with a maroon? I don't think I'm going to pair her, not worth losing (expensive) fish.

I've not seen any blue striped maroons. I would love to see pics of your fish. I have a pair of gold striped maroons and I've seen the maroons with white stripes. This fish must be an exception or maybe a color anomaly. Indeed unique. Please post pics.

Just looked at pictures of the "blue stripe clownfish - hawaii" that is for sale here. The colors on mine look very similar in person (maybe less shiny/iridescent) but again its definitely a maroon clown, the true blue stripe clown is completely different (kinda like a tomato or clarkii). Just wanted to add that.
How awesome would it be to have a fish that no one else has? I've kinda always wanted that, that's why I used to keep discus age ago.

It's definitely got a hue to it. Some maroons kind of look that way when they turn and swim around from the light. It's hard to tell from the pics though because they're not very clear shots. It would be better to determine it's coloration if you can try to get a clearer shot. Have you tried a macro setting on your camera? It usually looks like a flower. That always helps my pics.
It's always neat to have a unique fish in this hobby. It makes this hobby so much more exciting. I love how much you can look at your tank and you'll always find something new.

It's hard to get good shots of a fish that moves quite a bit. You could try while feeding. That seems to be the best time to catch them being more still. I have my husband or someone hold the cup that I use up and they recognize it so they come to the side of the tank that I feed on and wait. Then I take a few pics. This seems to be the best way to get a macro of the fish in my tank. It's worth a try some time.

Your maroon definitely looks in great shape and is working it's way to being a female. She's not full grown yet so she'll get bigger. Hopefully the blue hue will stay and as she grows you can get some better pics of her coloration. She's a beautiful fish.
Some people report them as being horribly aggressive to them even but my pair have been fairly passive so far. They definitely make a bold statement in the tank with they're red-orange with the bold white (well, in your case blue)contrast. Or in my case the gold stripes. I love them. They're the first fish people point out in my tank next to my pink brittle starfish. I'm sure you'll enjoy her for years to come.

I appreciate the kind words. I'm still not sure about getting a second one. I'm going to *attempt* a damsel tank. Probably like 8 or so of the smaller/more docile yellow tail/azure/yellow belly ones and likely a pair of the lemon ones (all get around 3 inches, im thinking 4 pairs, but we'll let the tank tell me, i'll be adding a pair at a time). We'll have the maroon, the engineer and maybe a sixline (awesome color, flashy, mean enough to hold its ground) or a basslet, but again we'll see how it works, if I have a "last man standing" damsel brawl then ill figure it out :)

my maroon seems more of a darker maroon then this little girl too. Can't wait to see how she looks in the future, maybe even more blue.

Yeah that'd be amazing. She's a very "rust" color for her main body. I still wish the wife wouldn't call her nemo

All in all, I think I got my wish of having a very unique fish, oh and getting her in trade from the LFS for two 50 gallon bags of instant ocean (and getting a box of 200 gallons for $25) makes it all the more special

Not that I can remember. I know they breed the blue stripe clownfish that the OP is talking about earlier. It looks more like a tomato clown with blue stripes and originates in Hawaii.
Chris- Those pictures are much better. lol You can see her blue very well in these. She's beautiful. I can't wait to see how she develops. I do hope the blue stays. It'd be neat to see it darken as she matures some more. That would be a wonderful contrast with the rust color. That color may darken as well as she ages. Please do continue this thread and take plenty of pics later on down the road so we can compare and see what happens during her development. I'm impressed. If I could find a pair with the blue hue to their stripes they'd be going into my tank that I'm setting up now. That's awesome.

I've seen this type of coloring in maroons before. As far as I know it is a natural pigmentation and can even be enhanced with high quality foods. They are kinda rare and on most websites that sell them they are considerably higher in price. Good find and good luck!
