thats the general shape but my one polyp looks like it is purple in the background w/ green stripes that start at the center and go to the edge.....im guessing it is not a blue stripe any ideas? and no im sorry i cant post a pic i know it would be helpful

after searching a little more i beleive it is a green stripe or maybe a metallic green stripe (if they are not the same thing) still wondering if their is any way it could reproduce with only one polyp

yes you will have more mushrooms really dont reproduce they split into two and then they split again and agin eventually. And eventually you have tons of mushrooms there is no way of telling how fast it will take it mainly depends on the conditions of the tank and where it is placed.

thanks... one more question do i need to add anything to the tank to help them survive such as iodine? b/c i don't want to add anything foreign unless i have to

I think these are more like what you have.
The stripes start in the middle like yours.

Here are mine. They drop babies all the time. Little ones grow under the bigger ones and then move to get light.

that's what mine seem to do. Everyone talks about them "splitting", but I have never seen that. I just see a little tiny blob that gets bigger and then moves over a little or it pops of the rock and attaches somewhere else. I thought I was crazy. I'm glad you mentioned something.

Heres a pic of my rics, it had 2 mouths when I got it,blurry pic I know, sorry) thinking maybe they have to have 2 mouths to split, otherwise they drop babies :thinking: :notsure:
