Blue Throat Trigger?

How many of you have successfully kept one in a reef? How were they with your other fish? I just got rid of a bully, so am I asking for trouble if I get one? My LFS has one for $39. Is that a good price?
I want a new fish, I just can't decide what to get!!!!!

$39 is an awesome price for a blue throat trigger especially if its a male. I DO NOT have experience with one but do plan on getting one in the future and I do have a reef tank. From what I have read they do great in reefs. If you keep them well fed they will not go after your inverts. They also seem to be a very passive fish compared to most triggers and dont bully other fish. I wouldnt add it to the thank before any smaller/more delicate fish though just to be safe. I also wouldnt put one in a tank less than 100 gallons. They need lots of LR and lots of caves to swim through so they dont get bored. Try to get one that is pretty small to start with. If this fish is already almost fully grown I wouldnt get it unless you have a massive tank.

we had one was a very timid fish. ate like a pig had good personality when he wanted to and never touched a coral or invert. He just got too big too fast so he went back to the store for credit.

My tank is 90 gallons, so I'm still on the fence. Went to see him again today. He is about 4 inches and is eating like a pig. I just can't decide.

At 4 inches and in a 90 I would pass on it. They are a very active fish. But it is eating and its a great deal so maybe give it a shot. Its your call. But if it was me I wouldnt get.
