I was just going to ask that... that was what i was thinking. WHite light is most detectible.... BY starfish and other primitive organisims that sense shadows and light/dark. So the softer blue light would make them think it was dark out. Nice to know ...

i know when the actinics turn off in my tank, the white lunars are on, and all my critters come out, and the fish run right to their sleeping spot.. maybe they just get used to the white... i dont have starfish or anything like that, but the light sensitive worms i have come right out with the whites on..

Moon lighting isn't what you worry about for coral..... it is your "MAIN" lighting.......... It is what needs to support your corals and such!!! But yeah you can run moon lighting and have corals!

Would that be good for corals?

I have a 48" long tank. Would a 24" moonlight be enought or do i need to get the 48"? And also, I have no clear (see through) top except where my normal lighting is located, where would I place my moonlights?

my gramma and firefish do the same thing.
when the actinics click off, they swim to their sleeping holes.

I have a 48" Orbit PC setup on my tank. Its kinda hard to get a good pic of the lunar lights. Maybe I will try to shoot a small vid clip of it tonight.

or have a cam that can take night shots... lol
can you adjust the shutter speed of your camera? you will need a tripod to hold the camera still enough because the shutter stays open alot longer to let more light into the lens...

thanks a bunch for posting the pictures of your moon lights. they look awesome. i have a 48" tank currently. i was thinking of putting blues on each end and a white in the middle. the lunar link moon lights come with 2 LEDs in each link. so that would be a total of 6 LEDs. any opinions as to whether this would be too much?
and don't worry, i know that actinics are not moon lights. they are more for aesthetics.

If they turn on independantly..... then I would go with both in that set up.... but if you can not turn them on independatly..... I wouldn't do it, cause I dont like what it created when mixed..... Once again it is personal.... I will post another pic with both of them on together......
