Not really. Only when constructing their burrow. And then dont really make a mess like sand siftering gobies can. A lot more hardier than the goby too as long as its kept with peacefull docile tank mates.

it's the sifting that worried me. My old goby went out of his way to spit sand all over my corals....
My blue spot died. I have a 95gal with about a 6 in sand bed. In one night on the whole right side of the tank was about a foot, they move sand. He then burrowed right ontop of the big mound. Hilarious, until he got finrot
