I havent been around here in a while... though when I left here I started really getting interested in bodybuilding and some members helped me in a few areas and showed me some excellent links to find more info on. I am around 6 months into it now and I honestly never wanna stop ;) such a life change I swear... going from a guy who never touched a weight in his life to a guy who thinks about lifting all day :p
If you have a myspace account you can see some of the recent pics i've taken.. and now im not some massive hulking man (yet).. but i've gotten much stronger/bigger than I was before... I just wish I had some before photos :(

Go anabolic...the only way to get big

I hope Tang is joking, it's that kind of attitude that REALLY gets people into trouble. Working hard and eating right can and will get you big. I started lifting seriously after a debilitating shoulder dislocation ended my pole-vaulting career. In college I debated going the 'roid route but after some research, it's just not worth the risk.

Good luck! Just make sure you get some cardio in your routine

I work out 4 - 5 times a week and sometimes twice a day. Like this morning, I jogged a few miles and I will go work out during lunch. I have gotten stronger and bigger over the years but I am not trying to be a bodybuilder. I am more interested in strength. I eat a lot of protein, take creatine and many other supplements. I wish that I had taken working out more serious when I was younger because now my joints are always aching and my metabolism isn't what it used to be. My work out buddies swear by andro products and No2 products. I have never tried them but I get a little skeptical on some of the claims made by all the bodybuilding products being sold. Some of the before and after photos used in the advertising is just plain comical! Anyway, I hope everything works out well for you.

Sure! My advice to you is to watch season 4 of TUF ;)
Are you really interested in hitting the weights?
I would never take steroids. I may not get super-huge.. but I can live with that ;) the chicks dont like those huge veiny guys anyways!
I have wanted to try the nitric oxyide stuff to see if it really does keep you pumped up... but im just not willing to spend 60-100 dollars to try it ;)

Even though I too think that drugs are never the answer, I think we should at least not call each other bad names.
No offense.

Speg I watched the episode last week. Shoenie cracks me up. Some of the stuff that guy wears is hilarious. Did you watch the fights before the season started. Diego's fight was awesome he knocked one of the other guys teeth out. It was awesome. Also are you getting the fight this weekend? It's gonna be awesome. Especially Bonnar and Griffin 2.
Also yes I wouldn't mind some advice. I want to hit the weights just can't stay motivated to do so. I don't know really anything about them. Sophmore year in highschool I completely tore my rotater cuff play football. The shoulder was in horrible condition. I've had 2 surgeries since then it's been 6 years and my last surgery was a year and a half ago and I'm looking at another one. Long long story short lol. Any advice helps especially since I seem to be like you who never really lifted weights at all. Anything helps Thanks bud.

Best of luck Speg. Remember to only work one body part 1x/week because you don't want to overtrain. I alternate push and pulls on the same day so I don't get too tired. Also, change your routine a little bit every other month so your muscles don't get used to doing the same thing every day. As for diet, I eat 4 meals/day with 2 healthy snacks. This is my routine....
Monday-Legs and Triceps
Tuesday-30 minutes of cardio and I take a 15 minute abs class
Wednesday-Chest and Biceps
Thursday-30 minutes of cardio and I take a 15 minute abs class
Friday-Back and Shoulders.
Saturday-1 Hour of tennis with my wife

Yeah I like Shoenie (if thats how you spell it) a lot. He seems like a fun guy :) My brother hated him after he watched that episode.. lol.. to each their own I guess!
Yes, I watched the other fights.. Koscheck (spell?) really shocked me.. I was very impressed by him and I think he is gonna be someone to watch now. Diego actually really surprised me too... Never thought he would beat Karo.. and the tooth thing was gross :p I told my brother "I wanted to be a fighter until I seen him lose a tooth.. I cant handle losing teeth!" lol
and of course im going to see the fight this saturday :) I already cannot wait. Several of my favorite guys are gonna be in it! Even Diaz is now in vs Neer.. thats gonna be a great fight!
Can you friggin believe that St. Pierre had to back down because of injury????? that drives me crazy! I was really looking forward to that.. if BJ Penn beats Hughes (again) then I still want them to match Pierre with Hughes! :p
As for advice.. you have to decide for yourself if you want to try to get big or just get more cut or what.. if you have shoulder problems... I dunno how you're going to do much in the way of 'bulking' up.. shoulders are a very important part of a lot of exercises and if they're already injured... ugh.... Maybe stick to light weights/high reps and see how that goes for a while. You could do lots of running! That doesnt involve shoulders ;)
As for me I eat 7-8 times a day. Roughly every 2 hours I eat. I try to get around 30g of protein and 60g of carbs in a meal. Also take vitamins and such.. for a while I wasnt doing the carb thing and my weight wasnt really moving at all and I wasnt putting on much muscle... but once I got the carbs in my diets I started noticing things quickly... so dont skip the carbs! Dont eat crap like candy bars for carbs though... you want like fruits/veggies/whole wheat/oatmeal/etc for good carbs.
As far as motivation goes... I personally have almost no life.. so its very enjoyable for me to lift because it actually gives me something to do :p Just think of all the women that are gonna throw themselves at you when you're all muscular??? :p haha Just make yourself do it.. its more fun than you'd think!

Just to add. I'm going to start a weight training class at school tomorrow. I've never worked out in my life and I'm not fat or skinny. I'm six feet and weigh 150lbs. Wish Me luck.

Hell no, I did roids for years...eating right and working hard only goes so far...there is very little risk when doing roids when doing them properly, There is a definite method to it....Its not for everyone, but when done right there is little risk, and harm to your body, assuming you have done your research and you already have been lifting for a while...not for the novice lifter...you WILL hurt yourself.

I won't call you an idiot for posting info that is far from the truth, but you like many people on this forum talk without knowing what you're talking about.

Shonie is a nut, he was in my corner and in Bonner's corner at a fight in '98, he fought and of course lost..here are some pics...did I mention this was a small local show, and he
still lost! I also talked to Stephan about a month ago...he has been training really hard and REALLY wants to knock out Forrest...I also talked with Andrei while I was at Jabb, and he he indicated a rematch with Sylvia...hell I can hardly understand him half the time so who knows
I'm not going to attend this UFC as I'm not interested in seeing liddel win...but I can't wait for Wandelei / Chuck fight...

Shone even after a fight...pimpin...

don't waste your money...its bs....they say is legal test...or its a precurser to test...its crap...Cholesteral is a precurser to test...but that fact is its not test....if you don't want to juice, but get big, try a "powerlifting" workout, high weight, low reps, that will get you as big as you're going to get naturally...I have an excel spreadsheet where you enter your max, and it will figure out a weight and rep schedule...just shoot me an email any you're welcome to it

Also the most important thing you can do is deadlift...that will consistantly add more gain then anything else...at least IMO.
