Book Of Saltwater Fish????

Can anyone recommend a book displaying pictures of saltwater fish and coral, that also has info about them. Barns&Noble maybe?

"Dr Burgesses Atlas of Marine Aquarium Fishes" is ALL pictures but the info on each species is limited to just facts (size, aquarium requirements, etc.), no write-up on each species.
My personal favorite book is Robert Fenner's "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist". It has some pictures (not a ton), a comprehensive write-up on each major fish group (lions, triggers, wrasses, etc.), and a ton of usual info. But I'm not sure if that''s exactly what you're looking for or not.

I have also looked for a good book but have been unsuccessful. I would love to find a book that had a picture and talked about the aquarium requirments, and then gave a write up on their habits, temperment, longevity, ability to adapt to captivity. If anybody knows of something like this book or website please let us know. Thank You!

I have several books, but the best book I have that is great to have with you at the fish store is: A pocket expert guide of Marine Fishes, by Scott W. Michael. It contains 500+ essential-to-know aquarium species.

I love how you say at the fish store. That is were I need it the most. My LFS have a great selection but little knowledge. I trust an author who has no gain in my purchase over the salesman. I will look into this book. Thanks!

Also try Natural Reef Aquariums by Tullock, it gives pretty up to date info on setting up aquariums and the different approaches. MArine Fishes by Scott Michael is the best source of info on fish species though.

There are a lot of really good books for identifying fish and corals. Most are used by divers. One place you can check out is www.fishid.com they have three books one on fish, one on corals, and one on inverts. But all from the Caribbean, Fla, Bahamas.
A couple of others are Indo-Pacific Coral Reef Field Guide By Dr. Gerald Allen ( this has fish, coral and inverts), and Micronesian Reef Fishes by Robert F.Myers. There are others too, but am not exactly sure what you want.

I would just like to say that I think it's AWESOME that SWF now allows us to post links to other websites and talk about their "competitors" on this BB. It sure makes sharing information so much easier.

This web site not only have info on fish, but on inverts, LS and LR, and misc fish. Oh and a compatability chart.***********.com
