All good books
you might want to look at dynamic aquaria by Walter H. Adey, Karen Loveland.
I understand it's kinda nerdy but it does represent an interesting perspective.

Marine aquarium handbook. Beginner to breeder. By Martin A. Moe.

Very good book. It explains everything in a language even a newbie like me would understand.

Algae: A Problem Solvers Guide" Julian Sprung
The Nano Reef Handbook" Chris Brightwell
The New Marine Aquarium" Michael S. Paletta
Corals: natural history, selection and husbandry" Eric Borneman
Anthony Calfo wrote a book on fragging corals, but the name of it escapes me at the moment.
Breeders Guide to Marine Aquarium Fishes" Matthew Wittenrich
That's all the ones I can think of at the moment. I recommend Sprung and Vargas books because I like their witty humor, and the way they explain things.
Unfortunately, most beginners kill a few fish before doing research and coming on these forums. Trial by fire by some is the only way for them to wake up and realize that they actually know nothing about it and need additional information.
