Sorry for all the questions but he is awsome... Is his markings that defined when just looking at him or did the camera bring them out more?

His markings are pretty well defined but, that photo was with flash and it boosted his definition a little more.......he is so fast it is hard to see his beauty sometimes.

Camera used for all of those shots was a Nikon D100 with a 24-85 lens and SB-50dx flash......handheld.
What I normally do is try to find a spot where I can put the camera right up against the glass to both eliminate reflections and stabilize myself......I am able to achieve even better images with film cameras though.
The Fungia that I have barely has pink to it at all......it is mostly green but, it looks sweet under the actinics.

hey rye, i just ordered the D100 and awaiting its arival. cant wait, hopefully, some of my pictures will turn out as well as yours have.
Got a question, when taking pics, what fstop are you using? is the 24-85 lens you have a 2.8? and do you open it that wide when taking pics?
I havent gotten a good lens yet, a friend let me borrow her 35-70 f3.5, but i am sure it will be leaps and bounds over my sony DSC-P1.......

Congrats on the new camera!
The 24-85 lens that I have is Nikon's Macro Zoom version. It is f/2.8-f/4 variable aperture. I sometimes shoot at f/ 2.8 but, to really get the good sharpness I usually have it set to f/11 or f/16. Let me know when you get it and we can share pointers. :)

sure thing.. i actually just purchased a couple of lenses off B&H photo....
Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8D AF which does Macro and also got a good deal on a used Off Brand 80-200/3.8 since i would rarely use alot of zoon... looking into a 14mm lens, but $1500 is just out of my budget right now... but its lottery day today, so maybe i will be changing my order.
Hopefully i will have everyting in hand by the weekend.... then the benefit of learning how to use it, but a friend lent me the Thom Hogans Complete Guide to the Nikon D100, so i am reading up on it now.
