Usually about 20 mins. I'll mix it up and then let it sit. Then mix it and test it.

I should also note that my skimmer is nicely producing skimmate now. Kind of gross but obviously pulling stuff out of the water.

You need to let it mix for at least 24hrs with a power head before using. I use a Rubbermaid garbage can and lid with two power heads and a heater to constantly agitate the water and I've let it stew for up to two weeks or more. That way I always have some on hand for emergencies. Different essential compounds in the salt take longer to dissolve than others. If you read the ingredients on the back of the bag or tub, you'll see that there's much more than just salt in the mix.
