Bought the New 7 Series

PPsssst...Liontamer
don't be hatin'! subarus are for little people and are built to serve a different purpose, and the new purpose is to kick butt on the unsuspecting folks out there.
i've been eyeballing them on autotrader to get my oldest boy something that will take him from the beach to the snow and get good mpg. and they cost less than a BMW.

I had a 96 Pontiac Formula back in the day that ROASTED every subaru that would try it. My friend owns the car now, and he wastes the STI, which doesn't really say much, but here's the kicker. My buddy bought this car from me for under 5k!! How much does that subaru cost??? HAHAHA!!! And yes, it would out-handle it too. No, it wasn't stock, but we are talking about $$ difference here.

I'm with you Fishkiller. I had a '97 WS-6 Trans Am also that was almost stock. My friend has a WRX and it's nice off the line, but not much after that. I don't remember the last time I raced anyone in the 100 foot so what's the point. After that you run them down like they are standing still and it's just gets worse for them after that.

Normally I never race my car because i don't want to beat on it. Yesterday there was a guy in a STI trying to entice me to race while we were sitting at te red light - unfortunately for him I accepted. It was a race for about 20 ft and then my car just ate him up.

Doesn't it just entertain the heck out you that these kids think they have something that will hang with a Cobra or a Vette? I love to pace them up to about 40 MPH to make them think they are actually doing something and then push the gas down the other half and watch there mouth drop open.

Well my friend has a 97 m3.
So far his water pump blew, hes leaking coolant, and his heater turns on and off.
He has about 80k and drives it like a civic.
My other friend is from germany and told me once they go past 60k your going to have problems.
But i am sure that you will probably trade it in before then.
Man i changed out his stereo what a pain in the

[hr]
. Weird wiring.
Overall layout of car has high quality parts. Even the engine bay looks neat.

So true Tangman.
I mean they pull up beside you and you just have to laugh a little and shake your head. I figured that maybe he has been racing a lot of V6 Mustangs and he didn't notice that mine didn't have a pony emblem on the side of it, or maybe he just thought that he was faster. Now i'm not saying I have the fastest car in the world as i have seen a few cars rocket past me - Vette, Viper, and a Cobra R - now those are some truly fast cars.

YEAH!!! I love that sh**!!! Teasing the throttle to make em think it's actually a fair race.... them WHOOOMM!!! You just take off like you weren't even moving to begin with. Bro- nothing against your pony ride, but just not my choice in race vehicles. I have diven a cobra-r and a viper hennesy venom 650... THAT was a fast car!! My dad just got a GT2, and it moves... But not as fast as you would think... My present ride isn't all that fast, but man she's perty!!

I kind of find it hard to believe you could out handle an STI with a firebird... As you said its not stock so I would have to assume you did some major suspension work to it. I have driven a friends 02 camaro SS and an 05 STI... although the SS was fast as all get out, I would take the STI for handleing any day.
just my .02

Yes, major suspension work, as well as brakes, rims, tires, etc. It was lowered 1.75". It stuck, lemmee tell ya!! Out-handled boxters, STI's, NSX's, and that little lexus all the youngins love, I don't know what it's called. I'll get some pics up here from a SCCA competition we did a few years back. I need to get my friend to scan em and send them to me... There is one of my brother (in my car) wasting an NSX on the cone track. It's awesome.

My '97 Transam had the WS-6 package which included a slight suspension upgrade, but it handled like a boat in tight corners. It was fast and handled well in a straight line.
My 2002 Corvette has the Z-51 suspension which include thicker sway bars than come on the Z06. It handles corners very well and with the traction control, makes running tight corners an "Arse munching the seat" experience. It's not idiot proof though. You can still get yourself in some major trouble really fast. I'm still debating putting a Supercharger on it. That puts 525 horses to the rear tires.
