When they are very stressed or die they can emit a toxin that is extremely toxic. You would have to do a 100% water change and that may not even save anything else in your tank.

I raised two of them (in fish + corals tank) from 1.5" to 10".
First one died being almost 4 years old; I don't know why.
Never killed anything or released her toxin.
Second is still in my tank (200gal). Save and sound - 11" now.
It's not always so bad...

i dont know if i would try a boxfish and a snowflake together because the boxfish is a slow swimming fish. this plus the toxin thing doesnt sound like a good combo...just my opinion

In fact it did go after some quick fish who snatched piece of food from her/his mouth but not in a harm way.
I think it was play. Cow fish is too difficult to maneuver to go after anything.
Very patient fish.

I was just at one of the LFS by my house today and they had a yellow puffer fish the size of a football at least. I mean this thing was huge!!

My LFS has a yellow boxfish in their reef and I asked the guy who owns the store and he said he trained the fish not to eat any of his corals in his display. I don't know how he could do that though.
