Brain coral

I bought a coral labeled as a brain coral about 1 month ago. It doesn't look like the open brains that are referenced so much on this board. I am kinda confused as to what kind it is. It has the channels like a brain coral with the coral body down inside the channels. The channels are all hard with small stony pointers sticking out everywhere. At night it has tentacles that it puts out. You can barely see the body during the day...it just looks like it is all stone. Sorry about the bad description and lack of a picture. Any ideas??

Kind of sounds like it could be a "Closed Brain" instead of an "Open Brain". Those are two different types of Brains. If you do a search for Closed Brain you'll probably be able to find a couple pictures.
I'm in no way even close to being an expert, this is just to give you a possible direction.

I had one of these at one point when I first started my reef. It was a cool looking coral at night when all the tentacles would come out. Eventually it started to recede (sp) from the bottom up and it died. I have not seen one since at any LFS.
