Brain dead

I think my brain coral is dying. I have had it for several months now. It looked for the first month or so, and it would get its little sticky tentacles out when I would put food near its mouth. It became more and more bleached white so I put it in with my metal halide tank. It hasnt been doing any better and now it looks as if its skin is peeling away from the skeleton. I think its a goner. Is there anything I can do for it? Should I take it out of my tank, will it pollute my tank?

Hey Oceanist,
How funny that you are in EDH too! I went to Oak Ridge, class of 2003!
I bought it at Capital and the Calcium is about 400.
Sinaloa, I think EDH is like 20 minutes from downtown.

Yeah I was a trojan too , class of 2001
400 is good. What is your temperature set at? Has it been eating? Are any of your other corals having problems and where is it placed in the tank?

Temperature is at 80. It was placed on the sandbottom of my tank, maybe 18 inches or so from the light. I moved it up because it seems like it was bleaching from not enough light maybe? I haven't been able to feed it for a long time since it never gets those hungry sticky tentacles anymore.
I feed the tank marine snow sometimes and I thought it might be eating some of that. It hasnt taken in any meaty foods from me for months.

I would bring your temp down to 78, also get some cyclopeeze , Kent Aquatic in Cameron Park doesnt have it yet, so dont waste your time there, try Lee's I think that would be the closest place. Unless you dont mind driving to Madison and Dewey and going to the Coral Reef Shop you can give them a call to see if they have it 965-6006 they are kinda pricey their though.

Mine did the same thing, and eventually it died. My parameters were great except that I did not know the Calcium. I don't really know what happened. I did notice that my cleaner crabs picked at it and my cleaner shrimp did too. It lost all of it's skin.

Mine looked horrible because my angel was picking at it. So I started to squirt it with food anyway and it came back and did great until another fish picked at it.
