TOO LATE!!!! Ohhhhhhhhhh SNAP!
I told you they would "do best in a mature system"
I said it would not necissarily thrive in yours.
ESPECIALLY because:
Like NM says, you need to feed it.
You also need to feed your fishie.
You don't have a protein skimmer.
You have a crappy filter.
You don't have the DSB to help counteract these problems.
WHile a DSB is not necessary in a system, they usually have the proper other filtration including:
ADEQUATE LR.
You have three small pieces.
NOT ENOUGH.
When the waste builds up, and you don't do water changes when you should, like you DONT, your nitrates, trites, and ammonia are going to rise. Your tank will crash. You have none of the necessary means of keeping it running well long-term. As of now, you simply have a little bit of life in there.
NOR DO YOU HAVE A CLEANUP CREW.
Nothing.
Nothing but lights.
and you get your water tested at the LFS occasionally, which often uses cheap, unreliable test kits to save money on giving you free testing. You don't really know how accurate your water quality is.
You don't test it yourself.
PLUS YOU USE TAP WATER.
See, the thing is, you don't mention all these little things to the people on the board. When you couple them all together, they equal a very risky system. The odds are not in your favor.
As they say, God is in the details.
And a reef is a long-term thing.
You forget: The reason I advise you so harshly, is because I see your tank dang near every week. Sad thing is, I know its needs better than you.
Why put your money into a beautiful coral now, when there is a chance it won't thrive.
Why not invest in the proper equipment and accessories to have a successful system?
I know you want a good tank, so do it properly. Learn from MY mistakes.
And bring beer when you come hang out later today.
No, nevermind, I'll get that.
Why?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
