Brain, no feeding tentacles

I received a welsophylia brain about a week ago and when it got here the water in the bag was 60 degrees or so. I will not name the site but I don't think I'll buy from them again. Anyway, it opens up great during the daytime but I see no feeding tentacles at night. Is this because I haven't tried to feed it yet or is something wrong with it? I dose with microvert 2-3 light doses a week. All water parameters check in as well. Thanks.

If its inflated(open) and extending tentacles during the day it sounds like it is adjusting fine. Since you've had it for only a week and since it may have been stressed during shipping I'd suggest patience and let it adjust. You might want to offer some small meaty food particles after lights out and see if it responds.

Well, it has yet to extend its feeding tentacles yet, neither during the day or at night. I have tried to coax it with some fresh shrimp but it ignores it. Any ideas on what to try. It still inflates fully during the day but I would think that no feeding tentacles is a bad sign. Any suggestions?

Could lighting/photosynthesis have anything to do with it? I've got a green open brain (Trachyphyllia geoffroyi) that hasn't extended it's feeding tentacles in a month or so. It's clearly happy and has grown a bit in the 2 months I've had it. I just figured it was getting enough nutrition from my halide/photosynthesis that it didn't need meaty foods.
Thoughts?

I have the same coral, and It took at least a week maybe even a little longer for mine to extend it's tenticles at night (I never see them during the day) They are also very small tenticles you have to look pretty close to see them, they come out around an hour or two after my lights go off. As long as it is enflating during the day that is a good sign, it is probably still adjusting to your tank. I love mine, it is a beautiful coral.

I have had my wellsowhatever for almost a year now . . . at first it had some pretty decent sized feeders, then the whole coral bleached out and I have never seen the feeders again. The coral has since regained its color and shown some considerable growth, but still no feeders . . . it does eat though.

Wow, that is gorgeous! that is funny, mine only has his tentacles
out when the lights are out and they are just little nubs, it shrinks down and the tentacles come out. I love to watch it eat though, very neat looking.

welsophylia will filter feed invert food, microplankton and they do host symbiotic zoxanthellae. It's probably adjusting. I have 1 green open brain (trachphyllia) and 1 welsophylia that I rescued from another person's tank. It had tissue recession and bleaching. I've had it 3 months and it is growing, regaining color and I have never seen feeder tentacles out on it.
