Moderate. They are usually placed in the sand bed so T5, or PC is probably OK depending on tank size. Stock lighting in most tanks is not sufficient.

I would stay away from PCs and brain corals to me there just isnt enough punch unless they are in a smaller tank.

t-5's are compareable to MH in par value and do great for most all corals.
just be sure to make sure the lights are HO and have individual reflectors for each of the bulbs it will go along way in increasing the light output.
I have 4 39watt t-5's on my 58 gallon and love them so far.

Hi, I can only speak for myself. I have an open red brain coral in my 10 gal with PC lights, but like mentioned it is a smaller tank and is doing just great. It is placed in the sand at the front. I did read that the red ones don't need as strong of light as the green but I am not sure about that.
