A friend offered me his branching hammer coral because his tank is becoming overcrowded. Anyway, i dont know much about them as far as feeding / lighting requirements. I have a 55 gallon reef with 400 watt VHO lighting. All water specs are good and the tank is healthy and been up for a year. What advice can you gus give me for feeding it etc...

You'll love the hammer coral. It's awesome, especially under actinic lights. Your lights should be fine since they are low-lights LPS corals. Keep them away from other corals at least 4" because they can sting and kill other corals. Also, they can expend their tenticles fairly far. They like medium currents. As far as feeding, they'll feed mostly on the lights and phytoplankton. I used to feed mine pieces of frozen shrimp or scallop, but I found that that really isn't necessary. Hardy coral.
