Well, it really depends. The height of the tank is most important. You want to purchase a tank that is at least twice as high as the seahorse you pick is from snout to tail when full grown. Most available seahorses are Kuda. They average eight inches when full grown. So your tank should be at least 20 inches tall. An average seahorse tank for 2 seahorses shouldn't be any smaller than a 30 gallon, and that's tight quarters for them.
If you are interested in smaller tanks, I keep Dwarf seahorses~or ponies as we call em here. The largest tank I'd recommend for them is a 10 gallon. Keeping ponies is very different than keeping their larger cousins. I'd be happy to give you info about caring for them if you're interested.

That's exactly what I'm looking for!!! To be honest with you, I didn't realize you could purchase such large seahorses. That's really not what I want at this time. I had a couple tiny ones given to me years ago and I was still thinking that was the size I was inquiring about, not realizing you could purchase such big ones! Okay, now I'm really excited about the ponies! So that's what you have? I would lov to know more about them. You mentioned the LARGEST tank would be 10 gal? So I could purchase a smaller tank for ponies? Do you have pictures you could send of the ponies? I could use all the help I can get!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

i keep mine in a 2.5 gal with a 15 gallon hang on the back filter, some chaeto, and 4 small fake plants in the back. i don't use any rock in there at all. the live sand is maby 1 inch or a little deeper.
i don't think rock is very smart for dwarfs, there so small it's sort of dangerous and makes it harder to see and harder for them to hunt.
i feed her like 2 sometimes three times a day with baby brine shrimp.
PS: i think i'm gonna start highlighting more helpful info in blue, i'm starting to abuse the tools

it's this website just another thread i made containing helpful info about seahorses others have posted. i was bored...
anyway, they get to be about an inch long. it's not that they have lots of babies but more that they have babies often. and there babies are fairly easy to care for compared to other fish.
if you use rock bleach it so nothing like aiptasia or hydroid jellyfish will get into the tank, both can kill dwarfs.
you can always add pods if you want, i bet the dwarfs could snack on baby pods easily. but there main food is BBS. which is easy to hatch i don't do anything fancy like rykna. i just have one dwarf atm. i just have one little upside down bottle with a kit from *****

I loved your video pictures!!! They are cute, cute!! They looked quite colorful! Sounds like a lot of work keeping the aquarium stable, and feeding the little ponies but looks well worth it. You have certainly given me lots to think about before I invest in the time and money for them. It looks easily like a couple $100 just to get the aquarium set up. Thanks again for all your help!!!
