So i just got this blue tang like two days ago from the lfs and he was all beatup so i figured id try and fix him up hes only about 1.5inches long so my 55 gal should suffice for now, anyway i saw him rubbing himself against a peice of my lr a few times in a row and that kinda scared me, hes only in with a gold stripe maroon clown right now he is two shades of blue and he looks like he was beaten up at the lfs, what are the symptoms of ich....im afriad...i dont have a qt so i would have to set one up....i dunno...anyway...just wondering about ich symptoms really, he is swimming sideways sometimes, hiding comepltely still behind rocks....i dunno if water parm are a mist here becuase eerything else in the tnak is just fine never better actually...anyway see whats up thank in advance.

I have a blue tang also, it was about 1 to 1.5 inch long when i first got it.
Had him about 5 weeks now, in great health. I was told buy my lfs this is normal behaver
for blue tangs. Good luck on bringing it back to good health.

Rubbing against rocks is usually the first symptom of ich/parasites.

My tang still does it now. no sign of any problem. my tang has now grown over 1 and 1/2
inches or more since i got it.
Keep a close eye on your fish, since you bought it in poor health.
Good Luck

Why does no one use QT tanks? These fish are notorious for carrying ICK and you’d risk infecting you display tank? It’s nice that you want to help out but it shouldn’t be at the expense of your other animals.

did you check your water paramter: amonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph if you have the test kit do it urgent and see what the level , i think you have problem with your amonia or nitrate.
if so make quick water chang.

Selection of an addition to a closed marine system is important. If you are going to place your new fish right in the display, you want to purchase one that is in excellent health with no signs of disease.
Buying a fish/animal to try and save it is not a wise move if you are going to place it in the display.
