He's still a guy that's averaging 25 pts per game. And over the past 4 years, he is averaging over 7 assists too.
He gets assist and points no doubt... He could be a 20-25 pts 8+ assist guy a game easily... I'd take him over any SG/PG because it would be an easy transition for him... most slash guards can't be true PG's but he can...
Only problem is defense... and injury potential... They will have issues matching up with bigger guards... however the better teams in East have smaller guards... so it maybe a wash.

What's up with Detroit and "past-their-prime" former superstars? The Lions signed Dante Culpepper too.

thats probably a good signing... DC still has talent... I think he turns a lot of teams off because he is his own agent... and knows the business...
the Miami deal wasn't really fair because it was his 1st season back after a ACL.
He is still a quality qb... I bet Dallas would rather have him than Johnson.

BTW, I looked it up... Chauncey is only a year younger than Iverson.
And another issue is that if Iverson doesn't work out her, that will be a LARGE contract off the books in the summer of 2009. If I recall, there will be some BIG free agent names on the market at that time.
Not to mention that Sheed also has an expiring contract.
Free agents in 2009 include Ginobly, Boozer, Stoudamire, Wade, Lebron, Kobe... there are others that I can't think of right now.

Yep big free agents that yr. Hopefully nets dont snag Lebron even though he wants to play for JayZ...
This trade will prolly help Pistons in the east with mostly small pgs
And helps denver cuz now u can have Chauncy guarding Deron Williams etc... The bigger guards..
I think melo will like that move as well!!

Forget about WADE! RESIGNING, LEBRON GOING TO KNICKS most likely or resigning, KOBE is happy now and will finish in LA, BOOZER coming to MIAMI MAYBE, STOUDAMIRE most LIKELY resigning, Ginobli most likely staying in SA unless he can find a larger that the 2 or 3 years the spurs will offer him at 32-33 yrs old. So you are stuck at square one.

I think you are mistaken on a couple of points. (1) D. Wade will chip a fingernail and his full body cast will prevent him from playing the following season;
(2) The Knicks aren't really in a financial position to sign Lebron, though I'm not sure how many contracts they have expiring; (3) You never know how Kobe feels from day to day but you're probably right here; (4) Boozer going to Miami... and then you woke up with a stain on your shorts
(5) No guarantees with Stoudamire as Phoenix will take a step back this year and they have an aging Nash.
And, BTW, you forgot to mention Bosh.

D Wade is back and stronger than ever, One injury plagued season will not deter his heart. The Knicks are CLEANING HOUSE, Getting rid of Crawford and Marbury and are rumored to be tanking this season on purpose to get a high draft pick to help draw LEBRON, Lebron is also said to coveted by NEW JERSEY which will make the move to New Jersey. Boozer was rumored to be heading my way for Haslem and Marion but we nixed it.. too much for Boozer,, He has a house here and was interested.. Next season maybe? Im not keen on him anyway.. NO WAY is Phoenix getting rid of their Franchise centerpiece Stoudamire at a healthy 26.. You've been smoking too much wacky tabacky counselor.
I dont feel that NASH even though getting up there has slipped in the slightest bit.. Look for Phoenix to keep them together at all costs. I love Bosh.. I dont know if hes gonna wanna leave Toronto MAYBE if Detroit offers him 6yrs and 90 million. Who wants to live in Detroit anyways?

Boozer to Mia... I don't think so unless they get rid of Marion... and the Beasley is a PF... even though he will see time at SF.... it would be too much I think.... too many got to get there's players..

And why would Lebron want to go to a team with a variety of issues and no team.... they are in their rebuilding stage... and have nothing going except $$ to attract James... And Cavs still have the upperhand... All they need is one more quality signing... to be a championship contender... The only questions are future Centers 2 years down the road...

Season ticket holder for several years when AI was in Philly. The guy plays his heart out every night. He is a defensive liability. Great at racking up 'steals' with his quickness into the passing lanes but not a good man/man defender and lousy team defense player. IMHO he does not make the players around him better. When Larry Brown had his best year with AI he surrounded him with good character people who played great team defense and did not need the 'rock'.
He will sell seats in Detroit. From Detroit's standpoint they had nothing to lose with the trade as their team could not compete with Boston, Cleveland and perhaps Philly in the East. They rolled the dice but I predict they have fewer wins this year than last.

Can't say I agree but I see your point. It seems to be a new trend in the NBA that borderline contenders are swinging for the fences with aging superstars. However I think that AI will work better here than Shaq will in Phoenix, or Kidd will in Dallas. JMO.

Look for something never heard of 6 yrs $180 million or something like that.
yes, but he also is going to be responsible for assembling a team around James... other concerns would be luxary taxes.. Cap space doesn't seem to workout, unless Stern changes the rules... But I could see his salary approach somewhere b/w $23-$30mil...

Gotta be closer to 30 mil,, BECAUSE he will use the argument, "HOW CAN YOU PAY MARBURY and HOUSTON $20 mil each and offer me $23 mil? Are you fricken Kidding me? lol

Sounds like a Denver columnist... and he is a bit off. He barely mentions the affect this trade has on the Pistons. Also, McDyess has now refused to suit up for Denver... so he will retire or they will buy him out and he can come back to Detroit. Finally, calling Chauncey Billups a better defender is pretty inaccurate. The guy cannot keep quick guards in front of him.
Basically it's an Iverson for Billups swap. They are roughly the same age. Billups scores less and has similar assist stats. Denver also gives up a $20 million expiring contract.
I don't like the deal if I'm in Denver right now, other than bringing home a local boy.
