I want to start breeding percula clowns, how is this done? Is it hard? I do not see a guranteed pair on swf.com. Is there a easy way to tell by looking at the fish?
Thanks
Get the book called Clownfishes by Joyce Wilkerson. Everything is in there.
And read through this: https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/100887/raising-clownfish-101
They don't sell mated pairs or even established pairs here. Do a search around the web for "mated pair clownfish" and you will find a few places with them.
If I go into a local pet store, is there a way to tell they are a mated pair? I am sure they can say they are but how do you tell for sure? Are they easy to breed?
Thanks
If they are a mated pair they would cost a lot, $100+ dollars
And would breed about every 2 weeks give or take a few days.
They are easy to breed, just feed them good foods, but the hard part is raising the fry. Get the book called Clownfishes by Joyce D. Wilkerson, it's all in there. And read this: https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/100887/raising-clownfish-101
sorry to hijack but how can you tell when your clowns are nesting. Mine have been acting very strange lately. for like 2 days they were zooming all over the ank now they are spending a lot of time in a small hole in a rock that untill recently they had pretty much ignored. I have had them in the tank for a year or so. They have also been eating like horses lately especially the female
