I was at my local ***** and noticed there turbo snail tank had numerous baby snails in it. I was wondering if I took my spare 10gal and put 10 or so snails in it, will they reproduce? I thought this might be a way to save some money.
I'm not sure if it is turbos or nassarius...but i know nassarius reproduce because I only put 5 into my tank and now I have upwards of 40. If you wanted to you could just put them into your tank and they would breed, you don't need a seperate tank as if it were a clown fish or something.
My thoughts on the smaller tank would be there would be more contact with eachother. Also, do I need to add calcium to the water or anything like this to make growth any easier?

You shouldn't need to add calcium unless it is low. Try and keep it around 400-450. This will help promote the shell growth.
How long does it take for a snail to grow to adulthood? I bought 3 snails and one had a baby on its back. it disappeared maybe a week after i put them in. its been about 3 months now. yet i still count 3 snails. There is plenty for them to eat.
Man, I can't even keep those stinkin things alive much less breed them. I've probably lost about 8 or so in the last 2 months. Any ideas. Someone suggested cyanide

what is your specific gravity?
Some sanils are like turtles once they fall on their back they cant turn themselves back over and they die. Thats is one of my problems and I am constantly loosing snails as they commit suicide and fall off a peice of live rock and land on their back. I have a bunch of hermit crabs running around with orange snail shells.lol As far as them breeding i havent been lucky with that as i wish they would as their suicidal tendacies are getting expensive.
snails shouldn't fall over unless there is something wrong in the tank, and it's usually s.g. being too low. i used to have to turn my astrea snails back over, and i'm sure that some died. i raised my s.g. to about 1.024 and the problem is fixed.
Or an vicious little fish my clown would grab them off the rocks and toss the on to the sand bottom. it was hillarious but I had to replace all the snails that couldnt right themselves up.
