Yeah I know he said I'm retiring then changed his mind, but look at it this way, have you ever tried to sell your fishtanks and getting out of the hobby. Then after listing the thing you change your mind right before you sell. This has been his life, it would be really hard for me to walk away after last season, especially once the aches fade and you remember you were in the nfc championship game last season.
These calls for Farve to stay retired is just silly.
Too many times. You said you're not coming back, then just before training camp, say you want to play, 3 or 4 times, credit is only good so long.
Sure, he wants to play now, being all nice and rested, but what about week 13 or 14? When he realizes "this is why I wanted to quit"? Or in Week 14, when the Jets are technically not in the playoff race? You think Farve wants to be there or play the last two races? They're Jets fan, but as paying customers, they at least still deserve a show...

Farve (as much as I don't like him) has always been a gamer and played balls out even to his detriment. I don't think you not showing up for the last two games is going to happen. So yes I think he'll play everything.
I don't see how players (especially people like farve who are lifers) can walk away, they can't. It is in their blood.

iam glad he went to the jets, the jets have nothing. i think him coming to tampa would have ruined the team. favre has so much pressure on him, that hes going to choke and iam glad its going to be with the jets. the bucs have good QB's not great but good. plus favre going to get hurt the first game of the season and be out for the rest.

I hope the jets go to the superbowl. I would love to get a 1st round pick for a guy we never thought would play for us this year anyway.

Agree with you here, but this was the setup last year when he said he was going to retire. I do like the guy. He's an awesome player, and he's one of the few "hard to hate/ good ole' boy/ honest/ family guy". The problem this year is that GB would have loved to of had him back. They know how much he means to the city, and the game. They gave him numerous opportunities. After he insisted he was out, they move on and commit to someone else, then he comes back thinking that 'he is such a legend that they will do what I want'. I really don't blame GB at all on this one.
And I take back what I said earlier about hoping the Jets fail this year. I could care less about the Jets, but I hope he does good. But I think his legacy would have been much better to have left on top at GB.

I don't think finishing with a team matters. Within the last 15 years, you have montana, rice (to some extent) E Smith, hakeem olajuwon. I don't think they were tarnished because late in their career they played a few more seasons for another team.

Although all 4 of those are legendary material, not one of them compare to the relationship that Farve has with GB. Joe Montana & Jerry Rice come close, but I still don't think it was this kind of talent associated with one team for so long. Actually, I didn't even remember Joe finishing up elsewhere. Who did he go to?

I would have been happy to see Favre retire as a Packer.
Just like I would have liked seeing John Lynch, Warren Sapp retiring as Buccaneers.
Mike Alstott, I remember being at Peppinrood (sp) and watching training camp in his rookie year. And a huge fan throughout his career here with the Bucs. IMHO, players that are special, should stay in the market that made them who they are.
Unfortunately Lynch and Sapp didn't get that opportunity.

That is my point, as weird as it is going to be seeing Farve in a different jersey, when we look back (unless he reels off a couple victories) we'll remember him as a packer. Heck montana played for the chiefs for several years playoffs and everything. So I don't think it is going to hurt him soo much.

Kansas City. He actually took them to the playoffs. The most successful "Legend v2.0" yet.

Thanks AquaKnight. I recall, barely. But this just goes to show that even I, the average fan, does not remember what they did after leaving the empire that they were known for.
Grouper...agree. Especially when you are at the level that Brett Farve is at. Retire, become an anouncer, be a cheerleader with pom poms if that's what it takes, but moving to another team is only going to cause his legacy to fade.

Agreed....No matter what happens, when his name is ever mentioned to our kids, it will be associated with the GB Packers. But if he fails miserably, every clip will always include...."and he finished up his career with a move to NY, which turned out to be his worst performance ever.....". No matter what he does with the Jets, his legacy is taking a hit, as well as his GB fan base for doing all this to the GB team.

Being a USC fan I've always had a soft spot for the Bucs With McKay being there at the beginning. Even when they beat my Raiders in the SB it wasn't a total bummer. Alstott was one of my favorite backs to watch.

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this. But this is really no different than what roger clemens did all these years unitl they popped him and his wife for juiceing.
I think it will be wierd seeing Farve playing for another team. Im sure he is just trying to find a team that will play the packers this season and he will make sure he crushes them if its the only game they win.
If you are sick of hearing about this drama, blame espn and the other media outlets looking for something besides macain/obama to bs about.

McKay...mixed emotions there. 0-26 then to the Playoffs. He was funny though..
Reporter: Coach, what do you think of your teams execution?
McKay: I'm all for it.

The guy is an EGO maniac, selfish, all about me guy. Did he ever once mentioned his "TEAM" during all this debacle? It was all about him. Of course it was bad on his part to try to comeback at the last minute. The team already had their draft knowing he won't be back. Why let his old azz come back and ruin what they are trying to re-build. Remember how lousy a qb he was in 2005 and 2006? It was quite hilarious knowing his last pass in gb was an INT lol. Not a clutch qb at all. I also hate the fact that so many media outlets are afraid to call him out. Especially espn who just wants to be his buddy buddy. Lame! And yes good luck playing in the mighty AFC! He's gonna have a horrid season lol.

This is what I don't get, Brett made the decision that is best for him, and the Pack (however I disagree) made the decision that was best for them. How is that wrong and him not being a team player. What is wrong with someone wanting to play again. His method may need improvement. But this is a gamer, he plays balls out (to his detriment) I can accept that, and can totally understand changing his mind about hanging up his spikes. GB may have been put in a little lerch by him changing his mind, but if they don't want him, then they did the right thing in letting go play somewhere else.
