my green brain coral just died. i was told that coral grows on died coral. should i leave it in???

No...the meat will polute the water. If you want to clean it off you can put the skeleton back in. but i wouldnt.
Live rock is dead coral from thousands of years of coral growing and dieing over each other and the weight of all that crushing down in to rock and new coral growing on it again.
