brine shrimp ????

I was wandering how hard it is to raise brine shrimp
and if easy sell them back to lfs
but i dont want to have to buy eggs all the time
your thoughts

Brine are so easy to raise that an LFS won't even buy them from you. The hatched brined are best used (for nutritional purposes) within 1 day after they hatch.

I would only hatch what you plan on using. Hatch several batches. If you buy eggs that come in a test tube like carrier they should last a while....depending on how much and what you are feeding.

If I may ask, are you feeding seahorses or something that need the live brine?

would you guys recommend fedding live brine to fish every once and a while? or is it something that isn't required if the fish don't only eat live food? just curious about this hatching live brine thing, kind of curious to try it. :happyfish

Actually, they lose all of the desired nutritional value within hours after hatching. Eight hours is the max limit...with nutritional value decraesing as you approach the eight hour time limit. They use the desired nutrition during their fast development.

It is a "treat" that is rarely refused so has uses in getting picky fish to eat. But nutritionally, it just isn't worth much in "larger" sizes. So, treat once in awhile...but if used as a more regular diet, it needs to be "fortified" with things like selcon, zoe, etc. I would not consider it "required" for most fish at all (excepting seahorses and perhaps a few others).

Does brine shrimp eggs come with sizes? becuase the eggs that I bought only hatch very tiny small shrimp, they are only good for baby fishes to eat. So far I haven't seem any store that sell eggs for larger brine shrimp.

UHH...thats because they ARE babies...they have to grow like everything else.
