Have you checked at night? That is when they usually come out to eat. If not, have you noticed any physical problems with him, e.g. like legs disintegrating or bristles falling off?

my brittle star never comes out.... except at night... he eventually figured out where most of the food lands... he made a place for himself under a rock and now all I ever see of him are his arms picking up frags of food to shuttle to his mouth... I dont think he comes out at all anymore... he doesnt have to ... the food comes to him... I can tell that he has grown quite a bit since I got him... little (or I mean big) pig

I've got a piece of live rock that has a fairly large snail shell enclosed in a hollow in it. The shell rattles around in the rock. No idea how the snail managed to feed and grow inside the rock... poor guy must have eventually starved in there.

hes been in the tank for about 6 days now... and i havent seen him move out from under the rock... he moves around underneath it... but never out of... unless its at 5 am... and i have lunar lights so i can pretty much see if he comes out. but if he did he would eventually be on a hew rock and that just hasnt happened.
what does he eat anyways?

Try spot feeding it shrimp pellets, though flake food and any other manner of meatier food will work. You can put a small piece of shrimp on a bamboo skewer, swing it down around where its arms are, and you should see some interest.

I have several small hitchhikers and I drop food to them through a drinking straw. As soon as the straw enters the tank I see alot of arms come out of the rock. I would not have thought that these guys could see but they know when its chow time. And they are doing very well taking the food as it drops from the straw.
