bristle worms and killer hermits

Well, I came home at lunch today to find a snail with a PILE of hermits all over it picking away. It was too late to save it,
, so I headed back to work. When I got home tonight, there was an empty hermit shell where the snail was, so I looked around and found the snail shell with a crab in it. Anybody else have this happen?
I also have what looks to be a bristle worm. What is the definitive word on these critters? I have read people say good and bad. Should I try to get it out? :notsure:

The hermits will kill snails for thier shells .... do you have empty shells in there for them? Bristleworms are a fine addition to the clean up crew... very few are harmful.

That was the problem! They def need shells
Just go to a craft store and get some there... boil them in water for about 15-30 min and drop them in your tank

Well, I added shells and now I have 2 more crabs in snail shells. Apparently they didn't like the new ones I added. Maybe they just like escargot. I feel your pain Alyssia!

PFitz, After finding the hermit crab ID thread, they are definately Mexican Red Tip. Have you, or anybody else experienced over aggression with these?

OK guys, thank you! They seem to have settled down for now after their little killing spree. Sounds like it's only a matter of time though.
