bristle worms "good or bad"?

Today? Well I've always be of the opinion that they are a positive part of the diversity needed to maintain a stable reef system. They like a large number of other critters do their part. Like lots of things ... in excess they can be a problem. But....in my system I try to develope diversity and a balance at the same time.

I had a large bristle worm that always ate my snails, when they were still alive. I think the worms are good to have when they are small, when they are big it is a problem sometimes.

Today I read something by Dr Ron Shimek (who may be out of vogue) and he goes into it a bit. If you're interested:

He sees them as natural and necessary, but this is a 3-yr-old article.
As usual, NM Reef states his point with eloquence, and makes good sense I think...
