Bristle worms

Tonight i saw the most crazy thing i have ever seen so far... my bristle worms in my tank one at a time started to come out of the rock and squirt this milky substance into my aquarium.. I take it they are mating? Now if i do not have corals a over abundance in bristle worms is ok? I have noticed my bristle worm population spike like crazy, when i feed my fish they come out of the sand and rocks to eat!! Also noticed when i clean my pads i no longer have all kinds of pods on them just bristle worms.. do they eat pods or anything?

Don't know if they eat pods, as I would expect pods to be fast enough to avoid them.
An excess number of worms is usually a sign of over feeding.

Coral Banded Shrimp are known predators of fish when they get larger.

Hehe, well don't starve your fish. How are your nitrates? Are they consistently high?

Many species of wrasse will eat the bristles and also flatworms. Look on this site, I had what SWF.com calls a Pennant Fairy wrasse. Beautiful, social fish and did a great job on the bristles.
I currently have 2 cigar wrasse and they are the same on the worms. They actually dump the sand and worms out of the empty hermie shells to get them. It's a hoot!

YEA Nitrates are considerably high... like really really high.. doing alot of changes since i have learned so much from this board. water changes for the most part do not help.. narrowed it down to the ugf... or at least i think=) Was thinking of getting a wrasse or a psuedo<? but heard alot about them getting bigger and running the whole tank or being too aggressive towards other tankmates.. right now up for any comments only have a brittle star(extremely large) 2 black damsels with yellow tails, and one ocellaris clown.

The fairy wrasse was not aggressive. Very nice fish. Whip fin fairys, like the pennant fairy and some filimented will not get very large. Some other wrasse species will.
What size is the tank and what are your test readings?

no. but id put it in there for "awhile" when it becomes to agressive give to ur lfs or a friend with a agressive tank and watch em pull it apart...or u can be nice and sell it away.
