I was looking at my tank after turning the lights off and this worm came out to play....I searched the web and it a bristtle worm, but I have't been able to find out if they are okay....I have take it out of the tank until I know if it's safe to be in there.

if you got one you prolly have a few or a lot :) i think most people would say they're good--they'll eat detrius and generally keep your sand clean. if they get real big then can start to be troublesome, and if you grab one it may startle you a good deal, but short of that, i'd say keep it.

when they a) start eating holes in your liverock, b) look like the scary thing in the bucket that was posted here under the subject "Hey Stevewest....here's his worm!", c) when they cause you nightmares or your significant other refuses to spend the night at your place for fear the critter will crawl out of the tank, eat your dog, and crawl into bed with you :)

There are thousands of types of bristle worms, and for the most part they are harmless, and a positive critter to have in any sandbed. If you could take a pic I would like to see it. Does it have any color to it?
