Brittle Star Question

Well I just purchased a green brittle star and had a couple of questions. First of all I direct feed all my bottom dwelling inverts so I was wondering when I direct feed my brittle star what should I feed it and how many times a week would be adequate. So far I 've been giving it a small cube of fish or shrimp twice a week plus whatever he finds on his own on the bottom....thanks

I think brittle stars are generally detritus feeders so he should be able to fend for himself. They also like meaty foods and arent incapable of catching a small fish who isnt paying attention. I fed mine freeze dried shrimp soaked in Zoe every other day and he readily took them from me.

just my experience! my grn brittle star was a predator. I got him when he was a three inch spread out and returned him after 6 months well over 10 in. He killed lots of stuff and I kept him fed with a nice sized piece of shrimp twice a week. He would hang from rock work and catch passer byes. I would wake up some mornings and his body would literally be the size of a pin cushion. It was hell trying to remove him, strong as can be. Ripped one of his arms in the process. Watch him closely.....
