I found this on my new live rock yesterday. Is this a type of brittle starsish? I tried finding some pictures online but didn't find one exactly like it. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

I was wondering cause it looks like 6 legs and the others I see seem have 5. I have noticed a total of 5 of them on that rock so far LOL. find a lot of intersting things on these rocks. Can't wait till I can get some fish and corals. Thanks for helping me out.

Sounds like its nice LR. Did you buy it LFS or on line?
I have two stars like that that hitched on my rock too and they are about twice as big but hardly ever see more than a leg or two sticking out from under the rocks they stay under.

I got the rock from a store called the fish doctor in ypsilanti Michigan which is about 30 minutes from were I live. I can't remember what kind it is but it was only $5.00 a pound and really nice most of it. still that one rock was 14lb and 70.00 LOL. I bought a seaclone protein skimmer but after that heard they weren't any good :( I think it is making a million micro bubbles in my tank. Any ideas on that problem?
thanks

It is a common hitch hiker brittlestar - an Ophiactis sp. probably. 6 armed brittlestars tend to reproduce by splitting. Often the arms won't be the same length, with 3 arms on one side regenerating and shorter than the others. Won't get much large. Good critter to have :)
