Your 29 seems like a more peaceful tank and I wouldn't add any more fish to it.
What exactly is the question about the feather duster?
How big is the brittle, if it's small, throw it in the 29G.
Get your nitrates lower!

I don't know very much about dwarf feather dusters but want to learn more about them .I have read that the Bispira spp feather dusters can starve after a few months and are difficult to keep alive . The Sabellid species dwarf feathwe dusters seem to be easier to keep so I was wondering what anybody knew about whaT THEY EAT. I only have saltwater tanks with live rock in them . I only add purple up to the tank as any additive . I have magnesium ,calcium ,and stronium oh and iodine but I don't add them very much at all . I have reef bugs and marine snow because I was thinking of trying to keep a flame scallop or some feather dusters in the near future . What type of phytoplankton is the best and how hard is it to feed these feather dusters and scallops with no experences in what to do ? Please help I want to try this but want to get some more imput so I can keep them alive and healthy . thanks for any imput

I have a large feather duster in my tank that I bought from SWF.com
I have some LR that came with at least 10 dwarf dusters on it. That are all really neat colors like lime green, bright red and teal! I have been feeding them all reef plankton, phytoplankton and coral frenzy.
Feather duster are filter feeders. The are non photosynthetic and they remove nutrients right out of the water column. There is no need for spot feeding and as long as you add something to the tank once a week for them (very little needs to be added), they should be just fine. Just make sure that there is something present in the tank for it to filter out. I have had good luck with mine, and they all seem to be growing.
Good luck!
