brown algae, I think....

I think I have brown algae, but it's weird because it's only below the sand/water level. It's a brownish red yuck that's along the glass but about 2 inches below the sand. No where else. I had diatomes when my tank cycled (completed 5 months ago) and have had an occasional green algae outbreak, but this brownish/reddish stuff is ugly! Anyone I can buy to clean this far down in my sand bed?
(I have about 15 nassarius, 10 ceriths, 8 or 9 astrea turbos and 3 red tipped hermits - I removed the rest of my hermits as they were eating my Mexican turbos when they fell over and attacking my red serpent when it ate).

Try a golby they clean and sift the sand all day long. Make's a big differance in my tank. Also do you do weekly water changes if so how much and if not how often?

About a goby --- will it count towards my bioload? I just added a lemonpeel to my two percs and royal gramma?

A goby will count towards your bioload, As for the water change's what type of water are you using Tap,or RO? Reason I ask is I had the same problem then I started using RO water and my tank cleaned up allot.

I'm using RO water. Can my tank handle the additional load of a goby? I'm thinking it's tight, but it might be worth the attempt. My water parameters are perfect and steady.I just have this ugly sand.

I hear you I had that problem I say go get yourself one. Once in the tank it may take the goby about a week before it come's out but once it does your good to go. It just spends all day cleaning the sand. He will do your whole tank in a day. And every day it will goto town.:joy:
