So i have been coming home to my entire tank cvered in brown algae...i have two emerald crabs. 1 clown, feather duster and red sea xenia. Xenia seems to be loving it... but it grows fast over everything... I used a cleaning pad to get off glass and a little off rock. Tanks been running a little over a month and i just changed two gallons yesterday...

It's looks like diatom algae, that happens when your about done with your cycle(the 1st 2-4weeks that your tank as been running). The diatoms will go away on it's own...whats your ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, ph and salt readings at?

If your water conditions are like this:
ammonia: 0
nitrates: 0-20
nitrites:0
ph:8-8.3
Then add about 5 cerith, 4 astrea, 3 nassarius Snails...and then wait a week or 2 and see how your algae is doing then double them up if you need to...

Pretty much gurantee it is diatoms, Since this is a new set-up and the first thing after it cycles is it will have a diatom algae outbreak. (don't worry it will go away). Everyone who starts a tank goes through it. Once the diatom algae has basically fed on all the (forget what it is called) it will start to go away. When I had my outbreak it was pretty bad for about a week then it started to go away. Then I had a battle with cyno, but got that all taken care off.
So basically don't worry it will go away. Just my .02

if you are planning on having corals then you also need to test calcium, phosphates, alkanity and magnessium. Just giving you a heads up.
