brown algae

I have brown algae on the back and sides if my 45 gallon tank. should I try to get it off or leave it. IS it good to have some algae on the tank? It makes the tank look dirty. Also I have a sailfin tang and kole tang. Would a blue tang get along with them?

A 45 gal tank is too small for 1 tang. 3 is definately too much.
How old is your tank?

2 years old. The 2 tangs have been in there for about a year. I will just stick with them.

You can use a magfloat to give the glass a quick cleaning daily. Only takes a minute to do and cuts down on the slimy brown film on glass.

I used Mexican Turbo Snails, Margarita Snails, and Astrea Snails and they cleaned off all the brown Algae including what was forming on the Magnet.
